Manuel Francisco Sousa
Manuel Francisco Sousa, lives and works in Lisbon, Portugal.
His education was multi-disciplinary, having studied music, art history, photography and visual studies, with MA in Design and Visual culture, specializing in Photography studies, from Escola Superior de Design (IADE, Lisbon).
Devoted mainly to visual projects usually engaged with portraits and documentary, but also branches out his activities to commercial photography assignments. His current interests lie in the relationships between image, the photographic medium and identity, as representation and performance.
In 2005 was editor-in-chief of Super Foto magazine (Portugal) and took part in EISA – European Imaging and Sound Association’s photography panel. Has several dozen articles on photographic art and technique published in various specialized magazines in Portugal and Spain.
